Feel ripped off? There's an app for that

This Autumn, consumers in Greece will be able to use a new Government smartphone app to report unfair business practices in a new effort to curb unreasonably high prices and profiteering.

The app will allow users to file complaints by uploading photos and videos officially stamped with the time and location. Government inspectors will be able to use the material received to investigate cases and impose penalties.

Next year, a new national Independent Authority will coordinate inspections, working alongside existing regulators to strengthen enforcement and increase accountability.

The high cost of living crisis in Greece showns no sign of abating and the Government hopes new tools such as this  improve transparency on the high street and markets and restore consumer confidence.
