FILOKTITIS | Summer Tour
Giorgos Kimoulis, Dimitris Gotsopoulos and Thodoris Katsafados, produced by Christos Tripodis’ Methexis company and in collaboration with the Agrinio Municipal Theatre, present the summer season throughout Greece and Cyprus, the tragedy of Sophocles PHILOCTITIS.
In Philoctetes, Sophocles dramatizes a fraud, which Odysseus organizes
and which Neoptolemus, the young son of Achilles, undertakes to execute. The two men arrive at the uninhabited Lemnos,
at the edge, at the end of the world, where the Achaeans had abandoned Philoctetes for ten years,
wounded by an incurable wound. Their mission is to steal Philoctetes’ famous bow,
because without it the fall of Troy is impossible. “I hate the times I live in. Dark years. I don’t want my life like this.”
