The Kalamata Carnival soon returns to the city for the 13th year and has officially kicked off this year’s Carnival season by publishing its promo video titled “Free the mood”. This short, unusual video has caused some controversy as some are calling for its withdrawl due to its potentially offensive nature.

From February 6th to the 22nd, 2026, Kalamata transforms into the ultimate Carnival destination, with dozens of activities, side events and street parties on the central pedestrian streets. Imaginative carnival crews, impressive floats, concerts with well-known artists and DJs create a colorful festive scene with non-stop fun.

The curtain of the 13th Kalamata Carnival opens with the Opening Ceremony on Friday, February 6, while on Saturday, February 21, the city lives to the rhythm of the Night Parade. The climax comes on Sunday, February 22 with the Great Carnival Parade and the Closing Ceremony.
